AI assistants

Connect your AI assistant

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Manus to BLU and ask about your creators, sales, fans and team in plain English. Read-only, and your key stays with BLU.

BLU can be added to your AI assistant as a connection (assistants call it an MCP server, a connector or a plugin). Once it is connected, you ask in your own words — "Who were our top 3 chatters by sales yesterday?" — and the assistant reads the answer from BLU.

What it can and can't do

  • It can read what your API key allows: creators, transactions, refunds, links, campaigns, fans' numbers, employee performance and your BLU invoice — the same data as the BLU API, through 25 read-only tools plus one that describes the connection itself. See them all on Tools.
  • It can't change anything. It can't send messages to your fans, change prices or edit anything in BLU. Every tool only reads.
  • It only sees what the key allows — the key's permissions, its creators, and whether fans' names are included.

How signing in works

Your key goes to BLU, never to the AI app. The app gets a sign-in that only works with BLU.

When you add BLU to an assistant and click Connect, the assistant opens BLU's own sign-in page at mcp.blu.luxe.

Step one of BLU's sign-in page: paste your key.
  1. The app that is asking, and the address it will send you back to. Check it is the assistant you just clicked Connect in.
  2. Paste your BLU API key here.
  3. Click Continue to see what the assistant will be able to read.

Step two: check what the AI app will be able to read, then click Allow.

The review page shows the agency, the key, the creators it covers, whether fans' names are included and every kind of data the assistant will be able to read. Click Allow and you are back in your assistant, connected.

Get a key

You need a BLU API key, and only the agency owner can create one: in the BLU app, open API keys, then Create API key. For an assistant, make a separate key:

  • IP allowlist: Unrestricted. Hosted assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Manus reach BLU from their own servers, so a key limited to certain IP addresses cannot be used for them. You can still limit everything the key reads.
  • Permissions: tick only what you want to ask about. You can add more later — the assistant's access changes as soon as you save, without reconnecting.
  • Fan names and usernames: leave it off unless you need the assistant to see who a fan is.

BLU shows the key once. Copy it, click Done — I've stored it safely, and keep it in your password manager until you paste it on BLU's sign-in page. The full walk-through is on Get an API key.

Pick your assistant

Good to know

  • Money is in cents. BLU answers in cents (1230 is $12.30) and tells the assistant so, so it can give you dollars.
  • Daily reports use your agency's days, in the report time zone set in BLU — the same days the app shows. Lists of events (transactions, refunds, sales) use times in UTC.
  • "Not available" means BLU doesn't know, not zero. The assistant is told never to treat it as 0.
  • Limits: generous for normal questions. Each answer holds up to 100 rows (50 unless the assistant asks for more), and the assistant pages for more. Your agency's assistants share a budget of 300 units a minute, separate from the API's own, so asking an assistant never uses up your API limit — most daily reports cost 10 units and most other questions 1, so that is about 30 reports a minute — and each key can read 100,000 rows a day. Too many requests has the details.
  • Last used on the API keys page counts API requests only, so a key used only by an assistant may show no recent use.

Switching it off

  • Remove BLU in your assistant's settings to disconnect that assistant.
  • Revoke or rotate the key in BLU to disconnect every assistant that uses it, at once.
